## Gemeinsames Lösen von Konflikten

Das Zusammensein mit anderen Menschen beinhaltet immer auch Konfliktpotenzial. Die Meinungen, Wünsche und Empfindungen gehen auseinander und das Finden einer für alle tragbaren Lösung ist nicht immer einfach. Dies erleben Kinder ebenso wie Erwachsene. Manchmal fällt es schwer, die eigenen Interessen zurückzustellen und sich in die Sichtweise und Bedürfnisse anderer hineinzuversetzen. Einfühlungsvermögen, empathisches Verhalten, Rücksichtnahme, aber auch Durchsetzungsvermögen: Dies alles sind wichtige Kompetenzen, die erst entdeckt und geübt werden müssen. Der Konflikt um das Velo bietet in dieser Hinsicht eine wertvolle Lerngelegenheit. Da ist zum einen der gleichzeitige Wunsch von Annina und Malou, mit genau diesem Velo zu fahren. Zum andern die Schwierigkeit, dass nur ein Kind aufs Mal damit fahren kann. Malou sucht Hilfe bei der Spielgruppenleiterin und diese nimmt sich Zeit, zusammen mit den Kindern einen Weg zu finden, der für alle stimmig ist. Mit gezielten Fragen führt sie durchs Gespräch: „Was wollen wir machen? Hat jemand eine Idee?“ Mit solch offenen Fragen regt sie die Kinder zum Nachdenken an und lädt sie ein, selbst nach Lösungsvorschlägen zu suchen, ihre Bedürfnisse zu äussern und diese in Worte zu fassen.

Schritt für Schritt nähert sich der Konflikt einer Lösung. Dabei üben sich nicht nur Malou und Annina im demokratischen Miteinander. Die ganze Kindergruppe, welche gebannt zuhört, erfährt etwas über das Suchen und Finden von Kompromissen. So lernen die Kinder immer besser, auftretende Probleme zu lösen, zusammen zu diskutieren und zu verhandeln, zu kooperieren, die eigene Sicht zu vertreten und andere Perspektiven einzunehmen.

## Kinder ernst nehmen

Die Spielgruppenleiterin ist sich der Tücken und Chancen von Konfliktsituationen bewusst. Indem sie in die Hocke geht und sich dadurch auf Kinderhöhe begibt, signalisiert sie, dass sie das Anliegen von Malou ernst nimmt. Malou und die anderen Kinder spüren dieses echte Interesse an ihren Sichtweisen und fühlen sich frei, ihre Gedanken zu äussern. Eine grundlegende Voraussetzung, um zusammen in einen Dialog zu kommen. Durch Nachfragen versichert sich die Spielgruppenleiterin, ob sie die Kinder richtig verstanden hat („Das ist deine Idee?“), und gibt ihnen zu verstehen, dass alle Beiträge erwünscht sind. Dies ermöglicht es den Kindern, sich einzubringen und zur Lösungsfindung beizutragen. Während Malou sich mit Worten für ihr Anliegen einsetzt, äussert Annina ihren Wunsch verstärkt durch ihre Handlungen. So schüttelt sie beispielsweise den Kopf oder fährt ein Stück mit dem Velo davon. Jedes Kind hat seinen persönlichen Stil, sich auszudrücken, und gestaltet so das gemeinschaftliche Zusammenleben mit.

## Gemeinschaftliches Lernen

Kontakte zwischen Kindern sind tendenziell ausgeglichener als Kontakte zwischen Kindern und Erwachsenen. Sie beinhalten spezifische Herausforderungen und Lerngelegenheiten. So üben Kinder, die sich vertraut sind und sich ausreichend sicher und unterstützt fühlen, unermüdlich soziales Verhalten. Die Kinder in der Spielgruppe treffen sich schon seit einer ganzen Weile an zwei Vormittagen pro Woche. Sie kennen sich und können einschätzen, wie ihr Gegenüber reagiert. Unerlässlich ist dabei, dass eine vertraute und verlässliche erwachsene Person in der Nähe ist, die die Kinder gut kennt und abschätzen kann, wann die Kinder selber miteinander zurechtkommen und wann sie aktive Unterstützung benötigen. Um den Konflikt um das Velo zu lösen, brauchen und suchen die Kinder die Hilfe der Spielgruppenleiterin. Diese hat das Geschehen aufmerksam beobachtet und ist zur Stelle, als ihre Unterstützung nötig wird. Statt eine fertige Lösung zu präsentieren, führt sie die Kinder mit Worten durch die Diskussion. Sie erstellt ein Gerüst, an dem sich die Kinder bei der Lösungssuche orientieren können. Solch vermittelnde Interventionen haben für Kinder auch Modellcharakter. Sie lernen an diesen Beispielen zunehmend, selber Spielregeln auszuhandeln. Schliesslich ist es Hannah, die mit ihrem Vorschlag die Situation klärt. Ein Vorschlag, der von allen Beteiligten akzeptiert und sogleich auch umgesetzt wird.

## Resolving conflicts together

When people are together there is always a potential for conflict. Opinions, wishes and feelings can diverge, and finding a solution that works for everyone is not always easy. This applies as much to children as adults. Sometimes it is hard to put one’s own interests on the back burner and to see things from another’s point of view. Empathy, empathetic behavior, consideration and also the ability to be assertive: these are all important skills that have to be discovered and practiced. Here, the conflict over the bicycle is a learning opportunity. Annina and Malou both want to ride the bicycle, but of course only one child can ride at a time. Malou asks the play group teacher to help. The teacher takes the time, together with the children, to seek a solution that works for everyone. By asking targeted questions she leads the discussion: “What do we want to do? Does anybody have an idea?“ Her open-ended questions inspire the children to think this over and invite them to seek solutions themselves and express their needs in words.

Step by step the conflict comes closer to a resolution. And not only Malou and Annina are getting practice in democratic cooperation: all of the children in the group, who are following the exchange with great interest, are learning something about seeking and making compromises. In this way the children learn to solve problems more and more effectively, jointly discuss and negotiate, cooperate, express their opinion and look at things from another person’s perspective.

## Taking children seriously

The play group teacher is conscious of the perils and opportunities inherent in conflict situations. By crouching down to the children’s level, she is signaling that she takes Malou’s concern seriously. Malou and the other children sense her genuine interest in how they see things, and they feel free to express their thoughts. This is a basic condition for mutual dialogue. By asking questions, the play group teacher makes sure that she has understood the children correctly (“Is that your idea?”) and shows them that all contributions are welcome. This makes it possible for the children to express themselves and to contribute to finding a solution. Malou uses words to say what she wants, but Annina shows what she wants more through her actions: she shakes her head and rides the bicycle a short distance. Children all have their own personal style of expressing themselves and in this way all play a part in shaping the interactions and life together in the group.

## Learning together

Contacts between children tend to be more equalized than contacts between children and adults. They entail specific challenges and learning opportunities. Children who are familiar with each other and feel sufficiently secure and supported do not tire of practicing social behavior. For quite a long time now, the children in this play group have met two mornings a week. They know each other and can assess each other’s reactions. It is essential that there is a trusted and reliable adult nearby who knows the children well and can judge when the children can manage on their own and when they require active help. To resolve the conflict over the bicycle, the children need and seek out the play group teacher’s help. She has been watching the events carefully and is on the spot when her assistance is needed. Instead of presenting the children with a ready-made solution, she uses words to guide the children through a discussion. She provides the framework within which the children can search for a solution. This kind of mediating intervention provides guidance and a role model. From examples like this, the children learn more and more to negotiate the rules of the game themselves. Finally, it is Hannah who resolves the situation with a suggestion. It is a suggestion that all of the parties accept and immediately follow.

## Résoudre ensemble les conflits

Quand on se trouve au sein d’un groupe, il y a toujours un risque de conflit. Les avis, les souhaits et les perceptions des uns et des autres divergent et trouver une solution qui soit acceptable pour tous n’est pas toujours simple. Les enfants en font l’expérience, tout comme les adultes. Il est parfois difficile de mettre ses propres intérêts au second plan et de se mettre à la place des autres pour avoir conscience de leurs besoins. De la capacité d’identification, de l’empathie, du respect pour les autres, mais également la capacité de défendre sa propre position: autant de compétences qui doivent d’abord être découvertes et qu’il faut ensuite affiner dans la pratique. Le conflit autour du vélo offre à cet égard une belle occasion d’apprendre. Il y a d’abord un fait: Annina et Malou veulent utiliser le même vélo en même temps. Et il y a ensuite une difficulté objective: un seul enfant à la fois peut monter sur le vélo. Malou recherche l’aide de la responsable du groupe de jeu, et celle-ci prend le temps nécessaire pour trouver avec les enfants une solution qui satisfasse tout le monde. Elle pose des questions bien ciblées: «Qu’est-ce qu’on fait? Quelqu’un a une idée?» Avec ce type de questions ouvertes, elle incite les enfants à réfléchir et les invite à formuler eux-mêmes des propositions de solutions, à exprimer leurs besoins et à les traduire avec des mots.

Pas à pas, le conflit s’approche d’une solution. Et ce ne sont pas seulement Malou et Annina qui font l’expérience d’une relation démocratique. L’ensemble du groupe, qui écoute avec un grand intérêt, découvre comment on aboutit à des compromis. Les enfants apprennent ainsi à mieux résoudre les problèmes qui peuvent se poser, à les discuter et à négocier ensemble, à coopérer, à défendre leur point de vue et à adopter celui des autres.

## Prendre les enfants au sérieux

La responsable du groupe de jeu a conscience des risques et des potentialités que renferment les situations de conflit. En s’accroupissant, et en se mettant ainsi à la hauteur des enfants, elle indique qu’elle prend au sérieux le souhait de Malou. Les enfants perçoivent de la sorte cet intérêt réel porté à leur manière de voir, et se sentent libres d’exprimer ce qu’ils pensent. C’est là une condition essentielle pour qu’un dialogue soit possible entre eux. La responsable du groupe de jeu s’assure, par des questions, qu’elle a bien compris les enfants («C’est ton idée?»), et elle leur indique que toutes les contributions sont les bienvenues. Cela permet aux enfants de participer et de contribuer personnellement à la recherche de la solution. Malou défend son point de vue par la parole, et Annina de plus en plus par ses actes. Elle fait un signe de dénégation, ou s’éloigne un peu avec le vélo. Chaque enfant a sa manière personnelle de s’exprimer, participant ainsi à la vie de la collectivité.

## Apprendre ensemble

Les contacts entre enfants ont tendance à être plus équilibrés que les relations entre enfants et adultes. Ils comportent des défis et des occasions d’apprentissage spécifiques. Des enfants qui se connaissent bien et se sentent suffisamment en sécurité et soutenus peuvent faire sans relâche l’expérience du comportement social. Depuis fort longtemps, les enfants du groupe de jeu se voient deux matinées par semaines. Ils se connaissent bien et peuvent évaluer comment leur vis-à-vis va réagir. Il est à cet égard indispensable qu’un adulte de référence se trouve à proximité, qui connaisse bien les enfants et soit en mesure de distinguer les situations où ils arrivent à se débrouiller seuls de celles où ils ont besoin d’un soutien actif. Pour résoudre le conflit autour du vélo, les enfants ont besoin de l’aide de la responsable. Ils la lui demandent. Celle-ci a observé attentivement ce qui s’est passé et elle est sur place lorsqu’ils ont besoin de son aide. Plutôt que de présenter une solution toute faite, elle guide les enfants oralement à travers le dialogue. Elle met en place une structure qui permettra aux enfants de s’orienter dans la recherche d’une solution. Une telle intervention a pour les enfants un caractère de modèle. Ils apprennent progressivement au moyen de ces exemples à négocier eux-mêmes les règles du jeu. C’est finalement la proposition de Hannah qui permet de clarifier la situation. La proposition est acceptée par tous et immédiatement mise en œuvre.

## La risoluzione comunitaria di conflitti

Lo stare insieme ad altre persone implica sempre la presenza di potenziali conflitti. Le opinioni, i desideri, le sensibilità divergono tra loro e non è sempre facile trovare una soluzione sostenibile. E’ qualche cosa che vivono non solo i bambini, ma anche gli adulti. Sovente è difficile rinunciare ai propri interessi e immedesimarsi nel punto di vista degli altri. Sapersi immedesimare, esprimere empatia, avere riguardo e perseveranza: tutte queste sono importanti competenze che devono, inizialmente, essere scoperte ed esercitate. Il conflitto, in rapporto alla bicicletta, è un’importante occasione di apprendimento. Da un lato, Annina e Malou, desiderano andare con la bicicletta nello stesso momento. Da un altro lato, si presenta la difficoltà rappresentata dal fatto che può andare solo un bambino alla volta. Malou va alla ricerca di aiuto rivolgendosi alla responsabile del gruppo ludico, quest’ultima si prende il tempo necessario per cercare una soluzione con i bambini, una soluzione che possa soddisfare tutti. Il colloquio avviene attraverso domande mirate: “Cosa vogliamo fare? Qualcuno ha un’idea?” Ponendo domande aperte spinge i bambini a riflettere, a cercare soluzioni, a manifestare i loro bisogni e ad esprimerli in parole.

Passo dopo passo il conflitto si avvicina alla soluzione. E’ un esercizio nel quale Malou e Annina esercitano lo stare insieme in forma democratica. Il gruppo, nel suo insieme, ascolta con ansia, recepisce qualche cosa su come si cercano e si trovano soluzioni di compromesso. E’ in questo modo che i bambini imparano, sempre meglio, a risolvere problemi quando questi si presentano, a discuterli insieme, a negoziare, a cooperare, a presentare il proprio punto di vista e ad assumere un’altra prospettiva.

## Prendere sul serio i bambini

La responsabile dei gruppi ludici è cosciente delle difficoltà e degli ostacoli rappresentati dalle situazioni conflittuali. Nel momento in cui si mette in ginocchio e si posiziona all’altezza dello sguardo del bambino, manifesta il desiderio di prendere seriamente in considerazione il punto di vista di Malou. Malou, e gli atri bambini, avvertono l’interesse autentico della responsabile nel prendere in considerazione il loro punto di vista e, di conseguenza, provano un senso di libertà nell’esprimere i loro pensieri. Se si intende entrare in una situazione di dialogo, è questo un presupposto di grande importanza. Ponendo domande di verifica (“E’ questa la tua idea?”), la responsabile si accerta di aver ben compreso ciò che i bambini hanno espresso e, indirettamente, lascia intendere che il loro contributo è auspicato. Tutto ciò consente ai bambini di entrare nel merito e di dare il loro contributo alla ricerca di una soluzione. Mentre Malou cerca di manifestare le sue ragioni con le parole, Annina esprime il suo punto di vista attraverso i gesti. Ciò è osservabile nel momento in cui scuote la testa, oppure nel momento in cui se ne va per un breve tratto con la bicicletta. Ogni bambino ha il suo particolare modo di manifestarsi ed è così che contribuisce a strutturare la vita in comune.

## Apprendimento collettivo

Tendenzialmente i contatti tra bambini sono più equilibrati rispetto a quelli tra bambini e adulti. In ogni caso sono occasioni di apprendimento e di superamento di situazioni. E’ così che i bambini che si sentono sicuri, in confidenza e sostenuti, esercitano in modo instancabile il contatto sociale. I bambini del gruppo ludico si incontrano ormai da parecchio tempo la mattina, due volte la settimana. Si conoscono e sono in grado di valutare la reazione dell’altro. Una componente irrinunciabile è la vicinanza di una persona di fiducia che conosca i bambini e che sia in grado di valutare quando sono in armonia e quando hanno bisogno di aiuto. Per poter risolvere il conflitto della biciletta, i bambini hanno bisogno, e cercano, l’aiuto della responsabile del gruppo ludico. Quest’ultima ha osservato la scena con attenzione ed è presente nel momento in cui hanno bisogno del suo sostegno. La responsabile rinuncia a proporre una soluzione preconfezionata e opta per una discussione con i bambini. Il suo modo di procedere è quello di concepire una struttura che consenta ai bambini di orientarsi nella ricerca di una soluzione. Questi interventi di mediazione sono un esempio, un modello di comportamento. Attraverso simili esempi i bambini imparano a elaborare, in modo autonomo, le regole dei giochi. Per finire, è Hanna che, con la sua proposta, chiarisce la situazione. Una proposta che viene accettata da tutti e da tutti messa in pratica.
